On February 6, 2013, through an agreement signed between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the four certification bodies for Italian as a second language, the CLIQ – Quality Certification of the Italian Language was born. It is an association that brings together the four certifying bodies in a single legal entity: the Roma Tre University, the Dante Alighieri Society and the Universities for Foreigners of Siena and Perugia. The objective of this association is to promote a culture of evaluation of the certification of Italian as L2 and, above all, to create a quality system for the certification of language skills, a system in line with the scientific standards established by the Council of Europe. in “Common European Framework of Reference for Languages”.
Each body continues to maintain its own certification, in fact what changes are the relations between the certification bodies, now more solid, to renew the linguistic and cultural policy of our country that, until now, has been judged quite weak by academics.
